Ntambang Community Members Schooled on Rape, GBV, Sexual Assault!
As part of activities under the “Adjust For Me” Project implemented in some four local council areas in Bamenda, Community members at the Ntambang locality continue to receive sensitization on Sexual Reproduction Health topics like GBV, Rape, Toxic Masculinity, Sexual Assault, FGM, among others.
Community Spokesperson under the project recently carried out a sensitization campaign on GBV, Sexual Assault and its effects on pupils at the Government Practising School Old Town. During conversations, pupils were advised to report every form of abuse/assault to their teachers or parents so as to avoid any damage whatsoever. The teachers on their part took the commitment to ensure that topics about SRHR would be discussed more often in the school millieur.
“I am very grateful for this project and the topics you have discussed with the pupils. Gender Based Violence is a sensitive subject which is also important for our children’s health. I am particularly happy with your presence here because most parents shy away from discussing these topics with their children. I hope that you will make more of such visits so we ensure that enough knowledge is gained on GBV.

Community spokespersons also held talks with an old Town based women’s Association, Musojuna during which discussions were centred around Parental Responsibility and Rape. Parents were encouraged during the sessions to play their role at home so that cases of rape, GBV among others will be a thing of the past.
The team also engaged in door to door sensitization campaigns which captured the four main Objectives of the project; Gender Based Violence, Toxic Masculinity, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and body autonomy.
Community members were also schooled on GBV and Physical violence including its dangers.

As we fight against GBV in our communities, may GBV be at the lips of everybody
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely correct. GBV remains a very sensitive yet important issue especially in the Projects targeted areas.
