Bafut Elite Launch Groundbreaking Initiative to Reduce Maternal Mortality; Distribute Maternal Health Vouchers! Pregnancy has become a perilous journey for many women especially in the conflict torn Bafut, with limited access to healthcare, poverty, and malnutrition, contributing to high maternal and infant mortality rates. However, a glimmer of hope has emerged with the launch of “Operation Zero Maternal Mortality” According to the Vision bearer, Honorable Gordon Chebelem Anyele ,the vouchers will cover all expenses borne from conception to post delivery. The initiative has already made a significant impact, with over 200 vouchers distributed to residents. Beneficiaries have expressed gratitude, citing the life saving difference the vouchers will make. Vision of Hope NGO Improves Healthcare in Bafut; Solicit Diaspora Support! Accessing quality healthcare in Bafut, North West Region of Cameroon is a significant challenge due to poor roads, economic hardship, and the ongoing sociopolitical crisis in the Region. Consequently, Vision of Hope NGO has recently organized a one day health outreach program providing free health screenings, consultations, and medication to over 157 Bafut residents. The package amongst others  included; Free screenings for hypertension, diabetes, and malaria, Physical therapy sessions and nutritional supplements, Health talks on lifestyle changes and disease prevention, Referrals to Bafut District Hospital for follow-up care. PPRD: Prime Minister Chief Dr.Joseph Dion Ngute to Launch Construction works on the 6.5km Urban Road Network in Bamenda!

The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, will officially launch the construction of a 6.5km urban road network in Bamenda. This project is part of the Presidential Plan for Reconstruction and Development (PPRD) and aims to improve the city's infrastructure.  Road Network Improvements : The road project will run from New Road Junction to Sonac Street, passing through several key areas in Bamenda. This development comes after the payment of compensation to affected property owners and is expected to ease circulation in the city center. PPRD Steering Committee Meeting : The launch will coincide with the 7th steering committee meeting of the PPRD, where the Prime Minister will be a special guest. Bamenda Liquidified Petroleum Gas (LPG) Filling Center Inaugurated!

As part of efforts to increase energy accessibility, reduce the price of gas and promote environmental conservation in Cameroon, the Minister of Water Resources and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, officially inaugurated the Bamenda Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) Filling Centre on May 9, 2025. In his Inaugural speech, Minister Elloundou said the gas project is part of Government’s effort to bring domestic gas closer and accessible to consumers in the North West Region. He continued that Government has plans to construct and equip similar centres in all 10 Regions of the country. The Minister emphasized the project's alignment with the National Development Strategy and its potential to improve living standards through sustainable energy access. MIDENO Highlights 2024 Achievements, Charts Bold Course for Regional Transformation!

The North West Development Authority (MIDENO) has capped off 2024 with a celebration of impactful achievements and ambitious plans for 2025. At its annual press conference on December 4, 2024, held at the Epic Center in Bamenda, General Manager Cletus Anye Matoyah commended the staff for their relentless efforts, showcasing a year of innovation, growth, and resilience. Among the year’s standout accomplishments was MIDENO’s implementation of the Emergency Project to Combat Food Crisis in Cameroon (PULCCA). Backed by a 4.9 billion FCFA World Bank grant, the project has empowered over 10,000 farmers with improved seeds such as cassava, maize, potatoes, plantains, and vegetables. Forty tons of these seeds were distributed, with each farmer receiving three kilograms free of charge, while additional seeds were sold at subsidized rates to encourage broader adoption. Ntambang Community Members Schooled on Rape, GBV, Sexual Assault!

As part of activities under the “Adjust For Me” Project implemented in some four local council areas in Bamenda, Community members at the Ntambang locality continue to receive sensitization on Sexual Reproduction Health topics like GBV, Rape, Toxic Masculinity, Sexual Assault, FGM, among others. Community Spokesperson under the project recently carried out a sensitization campaign on GBV, Sexual Assault and its effects on pupils at the Government Practising School Old Town. During conversations, pupils were advised to report every form of abuse/assault to their teachers or parents so as to avoid any damage whatsoever. The teachers on their part took the commitment to ensure that topics about SRHR would be discussed more often in the school millieur. “I am very grateful for this project and the topics you have discussed with the pupils.
